the former leading Toyota TS040 of Nakajima, Wurz, and Sarrazin has officially retired from Le Mans. Audi No 2 has taken over a 3 lap lead over The No 20 Porsche, followed on the same lap as the No 3 Audi

I'd think the capacitor banks would be more apt to failure than the wiring. But then again maybe it worked itself loose and rubbed through the sheathing thus creating a short. Maybe the loom was under-engineered and needs a heavier gauge (highly unlikely), but the most probable reason I can think of is road debris causing the failure.
